Vintage Art Nouveau expandable sliding book rack. This is the second similar bookend I'm offering by same maker Judd.

Condition differs a little between the two different items. The quality on this one is not as good. This bookrack has two tubular telescoping brass rods. Each end features an Art Nouveau style garden scene of a fountain and birdbath with flowing water from the mouth of a face, peacocks drinking from fountain and architectural interest surrounding the scene.

The backside of the end plates have a hammered appearance and are marked with the number 9859. 8 1/2 inches in length in its closed position and expands to a length of approx. The ends of the rack are approx. 5 inches in width and 4 1/2 inches high.

It's in good condition. Surface shows some cleaner used on metal in the past. It shows some surface wear commensurate with age and use.
